Wool slipper socks are a great idea, especially if you have cold feet. They are particularly wonderful in the winter. You come home from work and pull off your shoes or boots and slide your feet into a pair of slipper socks. I can almost hear you say “ahhhh…” Another great thing about slipper socks is how portable they are. You can take
them with you, all you have to do is roll them up and stow them away.
A slipper sock has a sock top often made of wool. Of course there are many types of wool that are used. Some of the more common ones are twisted wool yarn, lambs wool, and even wool blends. The bottom part is made like a slipper. Most have some sort of tread or non slip sole for safety and durability. This bottom part is usually made of suede, suede like material, leather or even rubber. At the mid sole point the manufacturers add memory foam of some sore for is for comfort and durability. Because they are so warm and durable, many people wear them indoors as well as for quick trips outdoors.
There are many places you can buy wool slipper socks, especially online. Doing a quick search online, I found some great places to buy them. Many are names you already know, like: LC Penny, Target and Overstock but I also found them in some more interesting places. I found that L.L Bean, Woolrich and Hammacher Schlemmer also have them. In fact Hammacher Schlemmer has The Space Shuttle Slipper Socks. Apparently they have been issued to the U.S. Space Shuttle astronauts since 1982. Acorn is one of the more popular brands out there. They make men’s and women’s slipper socks. They also make unisex slipper socks. Typical Sizing runs: Men’s sizes XS (6-7), S (7 1/2-8 1/2), M (9-10), L (10 1/2-11 1/2), XL (12-13) and Women’s sizes XXS (5 1/2-7), XS (7 1/2-8 1/2), S (9-10), M (10 1/2-11 1/2). Of course this varies by brand and manufacturer.
If you have cold feet or just want to be really comfortable when you get home, do yourself a favor and buy some wool slipper socks. Wearing a slipper sock is almost like wrapping your foot in a sweater. There are many choices you can make when looking for slipper socks. Figure out how and where you want to wear them, do some online research and buy yourself some warm and cozy footwear.
